Our Story
Gentle Hands AFH was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that everyone deserves to spend their days in a place that feels like home — not a facility. We are a licensed adult family home in the heart of Vancouver, Washington, proudly serving Clark County.
Our home is owned and led by Cristina Lazar, a dedicated caregiver with over 12 years of hands-on experience in senior and adult care. Cristina's journey began long before opening Gentle Hands — she spent over a decade working directly with residents, learning what truly makes a difference in people's lives. In 2021, she turned that passion into her own home, building a place rooted in genuine compassion and professional excellence.
Whether your family member needs help with daily activities or requires more specialized support, our compassionate, highly trained caregivers are here — day and night — to ensure they thrive.
What We Offer
Compassionate assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and all activities of daily living — provided with patience and respect.
Our caregivers are present around the clock, ensuring your loved one always has attentive, responsive support whenever it's needed.
Cozy private rooms, warm common spaces, and a welcoming atmosphere that truly feels like home — not a clinical setting.
Nourishing, delicious meals prepared fresh daily, with dietary needs and personal preferences carefully accommodated.
Engaging, joyful activities designed to promote well-being, connection, and purpose — from gentle exercise to crafts and outings.
We welcome residents with complex, high-needs care including full mobility assistance, Hoyer lift transfers, wound care, insulin management, and palliative care.
Our caregivers are specially trained to support residents living with dementia, Alzheimer's, and other memory conditions — with patience, structure, and deep compassion.
We have specialized training in mental health care, providing a calm, structured environment that supports residents with psychiatric and behavioral health needs.
We provide expert daily management for residents with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes — including blood sugar monitoring, insulin administration, diabetic meal planning, and coordination with medical providers.
Specialty Training Certified
Many care homes turn away high-needs residents. At Gentle Hands, we are certified and equipped to care for individuals with Dementia, Alzheimer's, Diabetes (Type 1 & 2), Mental Health conditions, Hoyer lift needs, Palliative care, Insulin management, Wound care, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). We believe everyone deserves quality care — no matter the complexity.
